1. Overview
URSUS Link is operated by URSUS Loft. It lets a sender share files directly from the sender's PC to a recipient's web browser.
2. Information URSUS Link Processes
To provide sharing, the app processes the folder selected by the sender; file names, paths, metadata, and contents within that folder; a Share Link token; a PIN and recipient session data; local network and connection information; and recipient request and transfer information. When you choose Copy Link, the app writes the generated link to the Windows clipboard; it does not read clipboard contents.
URSUS Link has no user account system and does not directly process payment-card information. It does not include advertising analytics, behavioral tracking, or third-party advertising SDKs.
3. Files You Share
URSUS Link accesses files and folders selected by the sender for sharing. Shared files are sent directly from the sender's PC to the recipient's browser. URSUS Link does not upload shared files to an URSUS Loft cloud storage or relay service.
For a folder or multiple-item download, the app may create a local ZIP64 package on the sender's PC. That package contains the selected shared content and is served directly to the recipient.
4. Network and Connection Information
The app may process local IP address, default gateway, Windows network or firewall state, public IP address, and sharing port to prepare and diagnose direct sharing. It may process a recipient IP address for temporary PIN-attempt limiting and active transfer handling, together with request, range, session, and requested-file information needed to serve downloads.
Recipient IP addresses, PINs, Share Link tokens, and session-cookie values are not retained in the app's diagnostic logs.
5. Local Data Storage
URSUS Link may store settings, rotated diagnostic logs, locally generated TLS and ACME keys and certificates, and ZIP/package-cache files under %LOCALAPPDATA%\URSUS Link. Settings include the last selected shared-folder path, language, and close-while-sharing preference.
Diagnostic logs are stored locally and are not automatically uploaded to URSUS Loft. The app redacts full Windows paths, raw client IP addresses, PINs, tokens, session cookies, and secret-style values from formatted logs.
6. Third-Party Services
To determine a public IP address, the app may use api.ipify.org, icanhazip.com, or ifconfig.me. Those services receive the request connection IP and application user-agent and return a public IPv4 address. Shared file contents, PINs, and Share Link tokens are not sent to those services for that lookup.
For HTTPS certificate issuance or renewal, the app may use Let's Encrypt. Certificate requests and validation information necessary for issuance are sent; TLS private keys and ACME account private keys remain on the sender's PC. The app may also communicate with the sender's local-network router to prepare a direct external connection.
7. Connection Security
URSUS Link normally attempts to prepare an HTTPS link. For eligible HTTPS setup failures, it retries up to three times. If HTTPS cannot be prepared, the sender can explicitly choose to continue using HTTP, retry HTTPS, or cancel. HTTP is never selected automatically.
When HTTP is used, data transmitted during that sharing session is not encrypted in transit.
8. Data Retention
Active sharing-session and transfer data are held in memory. Recipient authentication sessions expire after eight hours, and active session state is cleared when sharing stops. Completed package files are eligible for cleanup after 24 hours and cache-size cleanup. Logs use size-based rotation rather than a fixed number-of-days retention period.
Some local settings, logs, TLS material, and cached data may remain after uninstall. You may manually delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\URSUS Link after uninstalling if you want to remove this local application data.
9. Data Sharing
Shared files, filenames, listings, and folder/package contents are provided directly to recipients who use the Share Link and complete any required PIN step. The public-IP lookup and certificate services described above receive only the information needed to provide their respective services. URSUS Loft does not operate a cloud relay or storage service for URSUS Link file transfers.
10. Your Choices
You can choose the folder to share, change or regenerate the PIN, stop sharing, and delete local application data after uninstalling. Stopping sharing stops the local share server and makes the active Share Link unavailable.
11. Children's Privacy
URSUS Link is a file-sharing tool and does not include child accounts or profiles.
12. Changes to This Policy
URSUS Loft may update this policy when the app's data practices change. The effective date will be updated when a revised policy is published.
